Saturday’s NBC Fight Night in the afternoon network TV boxing show will go on, as planned, whether or not former world champion Tomasz Adamek is able to participate in the main event. Adamek has apparently been sick, and may not be able to fight against Vyacheslav Glazkov.
Main Events will be holding an announcement press conference on Thursday afternoon.
“We cannot simply postpone,” said promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events. “When we learned earlier today that Tomasz had gone to the doctor, we immediately began to discuss contingency plans with our partners at NBC and our hosts at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY.”
Adamek has asked for a day to decide if he will feel up to fighting on Saturday. In the meantime, feelers have been sent out to numerous possible substitutes.
Duva added. “If the worst happens, we will implement Plan B. Either way, we expect to make an announcement early tomorrow afternoon. The show must go on.”
The 8-round battle of unbeatens between Karl Dynamite Dargan and Mike Brooks will take place, as scheduled. More details to follow.
Certainly sounds like Adamek vs. Glazkov is a no-go at this time, but we’ll keep you posted with the updates on Thursday.
