Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander set for December 13th in Vegas

Amir Khan is set to take on Devon Alexander this December. If that sounds familiar, it’s because Khan and Alexander were supposed to fight last December. Khan withdrew from the fight in search of the greener Floyd Mayweather pastures, a mistake he can’t help himself from making, while Alexander would instead lose his title to Shawn Porter.

Khan and Alexander need each other even more now than they did then, and the fight is set for this December 13th in Las Vegas on Showtime.

That means they’re not only sharing a date with the HBO-backed Timothy Bradley vs. Diego Chaves event, but they’re also sharing a city. Khan vs. Alexander will be held at the Mandalay Bay, with Bradley vs. Chaves taking place at The Cosmopolitan.

Khan is still hoping that a win here finally (finally) lands him that dream date against Mayweather. Whether or not it actually does though is far from certain. He’s not in easy against Alexander, either. Alexander can either really shine, or disappoint, with a tendency to be a bit up and down over his career. If he’s at his best, then this will be a very competitive and intriguing bout.

Even if Khan does win, and manages to look good in the process, Mayweather could be drawn in another direction. The Manny Pacquiao rumors have been spiraling out of control lately, and Keith Thurman and others could be in the mix as well.

Featured on the Khan vs. Alexander undercard, unbeatens Demetrius Andrade and Jermell Charlo will square off. Andrade is another fighter who has found himself on the outside looking in at the big fights. In his case, he has been clamoring for a chance against Canelo Alvarez.

Facing Charlo seems like an odd decision for him. It’s a high risk, low reward fight, and not exactly a safe way to bide your time until bigger things. Nonetheless, another interesting clash for fight fans.

There’s speculation that Keith Thurman could make an appearance against Leonard Bundu, or in lieu of that, Abner Mares could be added to the event according to ESPN.com. Stay tuned for more details and announcement details on Khan vs. Alexander.
