Bruno Escalante set for August return after lengthy layoff due to injury

Though no official bouts have been announced the August 1st card in Redwood City, CA is taking shape as junior bantamweight Bruno “The Aloha Kid” Escalante (13-1 6KOs) returns after nearly a year and half layoff after a hand injury that occurred in his last bout against Victor Ruiz in Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, CA.

Escalante, who trains out of Undisputed Boxing Gym in San Carlos, CA is eager to make his return to the ring atop the card in his adopted hometown of the peninsula region of the Bay Area. Escalante for this camp spent time working with Brian Viloria at Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood, CA as he is preparing for a triumphant return.

In the co-main event, super featherweight Andy Vences (12-0 8KOs) of San Jose, CA will be back in action after a sensational knockout of Golden Boy Promotions’ fighter Santiago Guevara. Vences who drives three hours round trip to his boxing gym in Stockton, CA to work with Gabe Flores Sr. of Los Gallos Boxing Academy is looking to continue his success since joining the camp as Vences is looking to continue his six fight knockout streak.

Light heavyweight Ryan Bourland (7-0 3KOs) will return to action with his fast paced, fan friendly style, also featured on the bout will be Fabian Melendez (1-0 1KO) of Undisputed Boxing Gym and top women’s boxing prospect Casey Morton (1-0-1), who is looking to become a contender in the women’s division in the next few years. It is also being rumored Jonathan Zamudio (1-2-2) could face San Jose, CA’s Moises Benitez (3-0 2KOs) of Dreamland Boxing , but is not official.
