On Saturday, March 9, Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne will square off in a fight to see which one of them gets a title shot at WBC titleholder Vitali Klitschko, if Klitschko opts to continue fighting. If not, the winner will be in place to fight for the interim strap and pick up a heavyweight belt the only way that somebody in the division can — via not fighting a Klitschko. Check out a video preview of the Arreola vs. Stiverne event here, including clips of the fighters in action and training, and interviews with media members and others involved.
March 9, 2013 WBC #1 Chris Arreola and WBC #2 Bermane Stiverne fight a WBC heavyweight elimination bout on HBO. The Hangar at the OC Fair and Events Center in Costa Mesa plays host. Additionally IBF Jr. Lightweight World Championship fight between Juan Carlos Salgado vs Argenis Mendez will fight to see who will be champion.
Well, the media members interviewed here may be playing up Arreola vs. Stiverne a bit, but it is what it is. Stiverne is completely untested and unproven. Arreola, when tested, has failed, and only continues to be in the spotlight due to an entertaining style and a cult-ish obsession with his unimpressive physique.
