For the second time in as many years, Danny Roman (18-2-1, 6 KOs) is featured on Thompson Boxing Promotions anniversary show. The recently turned 26-year-old goes against hard-nosed veteran Christian Esquivel (28-9, 21 KOs) of Mexico in the 10-round, “New Blood” main event this Friday, May 20, from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

Roman, who is ranked fourteen by the WBA, recently put the finishing touches on his Los Angeles-based training camp that saw him spar against the likes of Pedro Duran, Emilio Sanchez, Oscar Negrete, and Jose Gomez – all of whom are undefeated.

“Last week I sparred twelve rounds,” said Roman, who enters Friday’s bout with a ten-fight winning streak. “I feel like I can go more. It’s been a strong training camp and I feel confident in getting the win on Friday night. I’m hungry to be the best that this division has to offer.”

In the co-feature, former Ukrainian Olympian Taras Shelestyuk (13-0, 8 KOs) defends his unbeaten mark against Erick Martinez (11-4-1, 5 KOs) of Mexico. The 10-round fight has championship implications, as Shelestyuk and Martinez will vie for the WBA International Welterweight Title.

Shelestyuk is co-promoted through Thompson Boxing Promotions and Banner Promotions.

Tickets for “New Blood” are priced at $40, $60, & $100 and are available for purchase online at ThompsonBoxing.com, or by calling 714-935-0900.
