ESPN is debuting two new “This is SportsCenter” commercials in Spanish, featuring MLS All-Star Giovani dos Santos, Mexican boxing legend and ESPN analyst Julio Cesar Chavez, alongside SportsCenter hosts Tony Cherchi and Alvaro Morales, and Raza Deportiva and Nación ESPN host Mauricio Pedroza. The spots debut today on ESPN Deportes and ESPN in Mexico and Central America.

As the L.A. Galaxy is closer to securing its spot in the MLS playoffs, Gio dos Santos and his trusted alien sidekick and L.A. Galaxy mascot Cozmo star in the first spot, titled “Gio’s Playground.” During the 30-second ad, they practice for the upcoming MLS playoffs, but, in an office setting. Out of the soccer field, they both face a different challenge, an authoritative Julio Cesar Chavez, who with a simple yet powerful stare communicates to Gio that it is time to stop goofing around.

The second sport, titled “Julio’s Fight,” opens with Cherchi sharing how he enjoys working with seasoned champions at ESPN even though they might bring some old habits to their job. A second scene is followed as Pedroza and Morales are surprised by Cesar Chavez sudden appearance as he gets ready to do his show, bringing his old habits just as Cherci predicted.

Both commercials were created by ESPN’s in-house marketing team. The “This is SportsCenter” franchise gives fans an inside peek at the Bristol campus and other ESPN offices around the world with a humorous spin on day-to-day life at ESPN.
