Jerry Belmontes and Odlanier Solis held their final workouts in preparation for their fights this coming Saturday.

Lightweight Jerry Belmontes, 15-0, 5 KOs, takes on 8 rounds against Dominican Ramesis Gil, 7-3-5, 5 KOs, in the main event to be televised internationally by TeleFutura on their Solo Boxeo Tecate series. The telecast begins at 12 am ET.

Belmontes said, “Can’t thank Main Events enough for this opportunity. No fighter plans to be out of the ring for 11 months but sometimes that’s the nature of the business.” He added, “It feels great to be back… I know I have a tough opponent (Gil) in front of me but he picked the wrong fight. I’m hungry to be the top guy in the 130 division. I’m looking forward to entering the ring Saturday, getting a big win and begin my reign as one of the elite at 130.”

Heavyweight Odlanier Solis, 17-1, 12 KOs, will face Konstantin Airich, 23-5-2, 17 KOs, in a 12-round fight for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight title.

Solis spoke of his return to the ring, “I am thrilled to get this opportunity to face Airich for his title and feel I am well prepared. Being the champion, I am sure that Airich will come well prepared and do everything possible to keep his title. I am sure he will give me his best in the ring on Saturday night. But I also plan on bringing my best to the ring and have had an excellent training camp with Pedro Diaz, who just happens to train Miguel Cotto as well.”

The Belmontes – Gil fight will be broadcast internationally, and time permitting, highlights of the Solis – Airich fight will be shown on TeleFutura’s Solo Boxeo Tecate. Super featherweight Oscar Tovar of Alton, TX takes on Gilberto Cancino of Brownsville, TX in the televised 4-round opener.
