Liam Williams warns Gary Cocoran: He’s going to get himself hurt

Williams: “He definitely doesn’t want to come and have a fight with me because he’s going to get himself hurt.”

Corcoran: “You’re not that big a puncher, you’re an average puncher. He thinks he’s Golovkin. All I can say is he better not run on the night.”

A war of words erupted between bitter super-welterweight rivals Liam Williams and Gary Corcoran at today’s heated press conference at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff. British and Commonwealth Champion Williams puts it all on the line against unbeaten WBO Intercontinental Champion Corcoran on July 16th, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

Clydach Vale puncher Williams, 24, is raring to get back on his world title trail after blasting out Gustavo Alberto Sanchez inside three rounds on his 2016 ring return on the undercard of Liam Smith’s world title defence against Predrag Radosevic earlier this month.

The big-punching Welshman is determined to deliver a career best performance in-front of his home crowd and is predicting his brutal power will be too much for his challenger to handle.

“I’m not bothered by what he’s going to try and do. If he comes to box I’m going to outbox him and he definitely doesn’t want to come and have a fight with me because he’s going to get himself hurt.

“He’s not going to keep rushing forward when I’m landing big shots on him trust me. This fight is only going to end one way; Gary is getting knocked out. I’ll see him in the middle of the ring on July 16th.

All-action Corcoran, 25, has ripped through his first 15 opponents, claiming six knockouts along the way. Known as the ‘Hell-Raiser’ for his non-stop ferocious fighting style, Corcoran has promised to live up to his name and take Williams deep into the trenches.

“Let’s be honest, who has he fought? I’ve fought better fighters than him. He’s not a big puncher, he’s an average puncher. Everyone seems to think he’s Golovkin but nobody has tested him yet.

“Coming down to Wales to fight him on his own patch doesn’t bother me one bit. I can’t wait for the fight, he can hit this chin as much as he wants. I’ll let him have a free crack at it as well. We’ll see who’s on the back foot.
