Live Gennady Golovkin-Martin Murray Results:

HBO Boxing is showcasing today’s Gennady Golovkin vs. Martin Murray fight from beautiful Monte Carlo, Monaco, live at 5:45 pm Eastern. For those who don’t want to wait for the primetime replay, but can’t catch the fight, we’re offering live coverage of the fight as it happens.

Follow along with our Golovkin vs. Murray results and round by round blog here. Of course, with GGG in action, few people are expecting to actually need those scorecards. But we’ll see how the fight unfolds and if Murray can deliver a true challenge for Golovkin.

Golovkin vs. Murray Round by Round Updates

5:50pm – The telecast has started. They’re showcasing some pre-fight videos and also talking Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. fight to come.

6 pm-Fighters in the ring. Action should be underway momentarily.

Rd 1: Slow start to the fight, with Murray bouncing around and covering up with a tight, high guard. Golovkin feeling him out. The crowd, with just a 900-seat arena, is loud and pro-Murray. Golovkin lands one decent shot close to the end of the round and Murray is wary of it. The shot likely won GGG the round.

Rd 2: More action already in round 2. Murray getting busy, lands a couple of shots upstairs and then lands a few very nice body shots. Golovkin picks up his work rate as well, lands a light left hook. Now jabs. Murray doing a lot of holding to break Golovkin’s rhythm. Murray’s round.

Rd 3: Murray staying behind the high guard, blocking of lot of shots then looking to find an opening to fire back. Golovkin coming forward more aggressively in this round. Murray circling and backpedaling, using his jab. Golovkin lands a few shots upstairs which push Murray back, but hes not hurt. He answers to the body. Close round until the last 10 seconds when it looks like Golovkin does indeed get Murray hurt this time with a right hand.

Rd 4: I think both fighters know that punch at the end of Rd 3 changed a bit. Golovkin is pressing more, throwing more. Murray is being a bit more cautious. And now Golovkin sends him down with a body shot. Murray stays down and takes his time to recover but gets up. The action continues and Murray takes a knee to halt the onslaught. Golovkin throwing huge shots to try to end it. Big round for GGG.

Rd 5: Golovkin looking for his uppercut now. He’s leading with it and throwing from all angles. Murray is bloodied up now. Looking worse for the wear. But he’s still firing back and looking to stand his ground. Snaps Golovkin’s head back with a jab. Golovkin just coming ahead anyway. Murray bleeding from the nose and may have a cut eye as well.

Rd 6: GGG still looking for that uppercut against Murray’s tight, high guard. Murray is steadier here, using his feet once again and landing a few meaningful blows. He’s doing some good work but Golovkin is throwing much more, and coming forward as Murray moves away.

Rd 7: Murray lands a few jabs but then Golovkin pushes him back with an absolute cannon of a jab. Murray’s looking tired in there. With the nose he may not be able to breathe right. Laying up on the ropes as Golovkin attacks now. He flurries and launches a combo, Golovkin temporarily steps back and then wades back in.

Rd 8: Golovkin trying to open up Murray throwing punches from unique angles. Murray landing some nice shots here. Golovkin not to be denied, coming forward, throwing hooks and uppercuts. Murray down on a slip. Holding his hands down now, he’s exhausted and beaten up. Golovkin with two monster lefts which send Murray reeling.

Rd 9: Murray just playing keepaway right now. Referee looks like he wants an excuse to stop the fight. Murray’s corner told him if he doesn’t do better they’d end matters after another round. Doesn’t seem like Murray has much left. Golovkin a bit tired though so he’s conserving his own energy instead of getting wild. Murray lands a right upstairs and then to the body. Golovkin slips and Murray tries to charge in to take advantage but nothing there. Murray lands a combination along the ropes now.

Rd 10: There’s just no quit in Martin Murray. He’s landing some good leather and Golovkin looks a bit tired himself. GGG still the aggressor and landing the harder blows, but Murray may be able to find himself to the end of the fight…. OR not. Golovkin sends Murray onto his back before the end of the bell with a crushing blow, surprised Murray got up.

Rd 11: Golovkin on the attack again. He lands one more big shot upstairs and Murray’s head snaps back, and the referee jumps in to wave off the action.
