Lucian Bute has successful hand surgery

Lucian Bute underwent successful surgery to his left hand on Thursday, in Florida. As expected, Dr. Veronica Pedro extracted several bone fragments during the 40 minute operation.

Lucian is in good spirits and recuperating at his Florida residence.  He will be fitted with a cast next Thursday.

The Bute vs. Jean Pascal fight was originally scheduled for May 25. That fight has of course been postponed, and the entire card has been rescheduled, with some of the undercard action being moved to the upcoming fight between Chad Dawson and Adonis Stevenson.

Expected recovery time for Bute is expected to be a period of several weeks. At that point, he’ll be able to start training again, and the promoters should be able to put together a rescheduled date for Bute vs. Pascal, a very big fight, and potentially even the biggest fight in Canadian boxing history.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding Bute’s injury and his status, and when Bute vs. Pascal is rescheduled.
