Luke Campbell is getting the best possible preparation for his Hull grudge match with Tommy Coyle on August 1 at the KC Lightstream Stadium in Hull, by training alongside Super Bantamweight king Guillermo Rigondeaux in Miami.

Campbell is in the States as part of his preparation for his WBC Lightweight title eliminator with Coyle this summer, and the 26 year old said in his exclusive column in the Hull Daily Mail that the searing heat of Miami and training with two-time Olympic champion Rigondeaux is the perfect preparation for the big night in Hull.

“This is my third camp out in Miami so far this year so I know the routine and how to get the best out of my time here,” said Campbell. “That helps out here as it’s hot as hell and humid, making the work we are doing even tougher.

“Usually I just come with my strength and conditioning coach, Jack Latus, but this trip we have brought a bigger team and that has created a great energy and spirit at all training sessions.

“That’s especially true with my training partner Tom Knight, who has just been excited by everything.

“Tom is gaining some great experience and knowledge from the attention to detail that Jorge applies to his boxing sessions. It has also been great to have Mike Bromby over here with us.

“Watching Jorge working with Tom and myself is invaluable for Mike to learn different training techniques and coaching methods.”
