I don’t see what the big fuss is. I think these predictions are pretty much spot on, with the exception of napoles and cuevas with whom I think Pacquiao would probably stop. The point is that Pac is definitely an ATG, but not an ATG welterweight as most of these fighters mentioned were. Most of these fighters would probably beat a prime De La Hoya and surely beat Cotto. You have to analyze the matchups as boxing fan and not as a fanboy of any one fighter. I love De La Hoya, but I’ve always thought that prime for prome Hearns and SRL both stop him.

from the time of pacquiao’s debut at 122 lbs(bantamweight)..almost all boxing analyst (even Filipino analyst’S') counted him out against the best fighters of the modern era..here are their FAMOUS predictions against notable fighters:
1.)Barrera 126 lbs- win by TKO or one-sided unanimous decision: manny is one-dimensional and has never fought a technically gifted fighter like barrera (top 3 pound4pound at that time)
2.)Morales 126 lbs- win by decision: manny hasn’t been tested in bloody battles comparable to Erik’s fights with barrera
3.)De la Hoya- win by KO: manny is too small and would slow down considering the added weight
4.)Hatton- by KO: manny couldn’t handle the aggression and the rugged style hatton implemented in his fight with Kostya Tzsu
5.)Cotto- by decision: manny couldn,t hanlde the strength of a true welterweight

THOSE were the pre-fight analysis.. THOSE were the fighters Manny Knocked out/TKO’ed.. Yet so-called “BOXING ANALYSTS” consider him inferior compared to ‘OLD’-time greats..

I Hope we open our minds,and analyze for ourselves- and maybe, just maybe- Pacquiao would turn out to be the greatest of all-time a century from now

I tend to agree. With the possible exception of the Napoles fight (I haven’t thought enough about him lately to say off-the-cuff), with some small differences this is pretty much how I would call it right down the pike

All the fighters from 130 Pounds and above that Pacman fought said that Pacman would not win.

Look at what happen!

All you so called experts said:

- Goldenboy too tall and complete fighter
- Hatton is a best at 140 Division
- Cotto is Super Welterweight
- Other excuses so on and so forth

No one gave Pacman any respect, even after the fight.

Oh he foght an old man, weight drained, blah blah blah

what if dela hoya vs pacman never happen and after 20 yrs you will compare them, you will certainly say oscar would ko manny because he is bigger and stronger. But we all know what happen. Its not fair comparing manny with those legends just because manny is a small welter weight. 4th round ko against hearns Are you insane? Did you know that mannys ko loss are all by dehydration cuz he stay so long in the 112 division. Look at cotto younger and stronger but he could not even hurt manny when manny is on his usual fighting shape. 5 yrs ago we didnt even imagine that cotto will fight manny cuz miguel is too big then we all know what happen when they fought.

Mr. Cruz, thank you for your reply. Interesting. Docusen resembled Manny just because he was a flashy kind of fighter, that was the only comparison. You seem to want to be the comparison police, then you compare Henry Armstrong to David Diaz, and Manny to a middleweight mauler like Jake LaMotta and fellow southpaw Marvin Hagler.

You say Manny will beat Napoles because he’s the Mexican assassin. I’m not sure how close of a resemblance Napoles had with Morales, Barrera, or Marquez. Then to show how well Manny would hang in there with Hearns, you use his fight with DLH as evidence. Did Oscar in his last fight resemble a prime Tommy Hearns?

Anyway, I appreciate the thoughtful reply.
