Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto Weights & Analysis

  • Mayweather: 151 lbs
  • Cotto: 154 lbs

This was definitely a largely pro-Cotto crowd. Mayweather was super confident, and playing up his villain status to be sure. He also looked absolutely jacked, and this is the heaviest he’s ever weighed in as a professional fighter in his second turn at junior middleweight. Cotto also looked to be in excellent condition.

The post weigh-in staredown was pretty intense. Mawyeather got about an inch away from Cotto’s face, and was just loudly chewing gum and staring at him as Cotto remained stoic. Then Mayweather started jabbering away and talking some trash, and eventually Cotto started to respond, and they got a bit heated before being separated.

Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Shane Mosley

  • Alvarez: 154 lbs
  • Mosley: 154.5 lbs

Mosley is half a pound overweight, and will have some time to lose that and get back on the scales. He didn’t seem too happy about having to cut more weight, and was definitely looking his age, and looking dried out a bit.

Jessie Vargas vs. Steve Forbes

  • Vargas: 146 lbs
  • Forbes: 146.5 lbs

Both men made weight, Forbes looks to be in great shape for what may be his last major showcase fight, while Vargas looked confident and ready to go.

Deandre Latimore vs. Carlos Quintana

  • Latimore: 154.5 lbs
  • Quintana: 154 lbs

The contracted limit was 155 lbs for the fight, so Latimore was indeed on weight.

Additional Mayweather-Cotto weigh-in notes

Not only were there several thousand fans in attendance to watch the weigh-in live, the crowd was amped up and eager to take in all the festivities. There were a ton of Mexican fight fans in support of Canelo Alvarez, as well as Puerto Rican fans, backing Cotto and Carlos Quintana as well. Of course, Michael Buffer was announcing the affair, and Max Kellerman was also on hand to interview the fighters.

There were also many places to watch the Cotto vs. Mayweather weigh-in online, but one of the main destinations was the fight’s official Ustream channel, were all of the fight week events were streamed live to fans across the globe. This proved to be a popular outlet, as the station got up to a staggering 4,500 viewers at a time. That figure steadily climbed from about 500 or 600 fans watching at once about an hour before the proceedings.

In another interesting tidbit, ESPN reported earlier this afternoon that Mayweather was guaranteed $32 million in his contract – that’s without any of the additional pay-per-view upside. That’s believed to be the largest guaranteed fighter’s purse in history, furthering his Money Mayweather status.

A crew of Golden Boy young fighters were in attendance, including Devon Alexander, Danny Jacobs, Danny Garcia, Paulie Malignaggi and Seth Mitchell, amongst others. Meanwhile, BJ Flores was working the crowd and asking fans for predictions and their thoughts on the fight.

All right, that wraps everything up for now. Quite the event with all the fans in attendance. Everyone looks fit, focused and ready to go. Thanks for checking out the Mayweather vs. Cotto weigh-in results and pictures right here at ProBoxing-Fans.com!
