It’s been no secret that the Gennady Golovkin vs. Martin Murray fight has been hashed out for the beginning of 2015. Here though we have a couple of more notes on the Golovkin vs. Murray fight, including its official site and date, all of that good stuff.

The Golovkin vs. Murray fight will take place at the Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco on February 21, 2015. Both Golovkin and Murray have fought in Monaco as of late, so neither one will be a stranger to the locale.

Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) is looking to extend his impressive knockout streak, and will seek to basically continue to wait and position himself for future major paydays. Murray (29-1, 12 KOs), for his part, will be looking to play spoiler, and come home with a middleweight championship after being denied in his previous bid against Sergio Martinez.

Golovkin, of course, will be the big favorite in the fight. According to the odds, Murray is currently slated at +700, which even against Golovkin provides great value, as Murray is a challenger who should be taken seriously.

In the United States, Golovkin vs. Murray will be televised live on HBO. Right now it’s the first major fight of 2015, and definitely on that fans will be eager to see. Internationally, Octapixx will be distributing the fight. The fight is promoted by Golden Gloves Promotions in association with K2 Promotions and Monte-Carlo SBM.

“The return of boxing’s fastest-rising star to Monte-Carlo is a premium event in and of itself, but we’re ecstatic that the telecast will feature a leading contender in Martin Murray who will truly challenge Gennady Golovkin,” says Octapixx LIVE’s Vice President Lowell Conn.

“Octapixx LIVE is pleased that this event is not only generating interest among sports broadcasters who typically license world championship boxing, but also from sports broadcasters that are new to boxing and see Golovkin-Murray as a great launching pad into the sport in 2015.”

Fight fans can’t get enough of “GGG” these days, so many will surely be counting down the days until fight night against Murray in February 2015.
