One-loss junior welters battle on Shobox Jan 25th: Serrano vs. Taylor

Philadelphia’s Raymond ‘Tito” Serrano will battle Baltimore based Emmanuel ‘The Tranzforma” Taylor in a 10-round junior welterweight clash on FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2013, at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, it was announced today by Joe DeGuardia, President of Star Boxing.

Broadcast on ShoBoxand promoted by Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, the Serrano/Taylor bout is the chief support to the 10-round junior middleweight title bout between world ranked Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade and former world title challenger Freddy “EL Riel” Hernandez.

“This is an excellent junior welterweight matchup between two young aggressive fighters. Serrano and Taylor have an outstanding opportunity to show the great boxing fans on Long Island and the nationally televised audience on SHOWTIME® that they belong in the mix with other top prospects in the division,” said DeGuardia.

“Ray has been working hard the last couple of months with his new trainer, Barry Hunter. He was very excited when we approached him about the fight. Ray wants to show that he is the prospect everyone thought he was, (winning his first 18 pro fights) before getting tagged against Karim Mayfield last May” said DeGuardia.

The 23-year-old Serrano, 18-1-0 (8KO’s), was stopped in the fifth round by Mayfield on MAY 18, 2012 in Albany, NY.

Just 21-years-old, Taylor has compiled an excellent record of 15-1-0 with ten knockouts since turning professional in 2009 following a highly decorated amateur career.

Earning his nickname through his transformation from a quiet persona outside the ring to an all-action fighter inside of it, Taylor returns to battle following a sensational decision win over then undefeated prospect George Sosa on October 12th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
