Ronny Rios & Julio Diaz in action this Saturday in separate bouts

An exciting doubleheader is set for this Saturday night at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. featuring a battle between unbeaten Ronny Rios and the exciting “Dangerous” David Rodela in the 10 round junior lightweight main event and former World Champion Julio Diaz’s return to the ring to take on Henry Aurad in the 10 round welterweight co-feature on TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate.”

Ronny Rios (18-0, 8 KO’s) cleaned up as an amateur, winning two United States titles and one National Golden Gloves Championship before turning professional in October of 2008 with a first round knockout of Fermin Perez. Since then, no one has come close to beating the 22-year-old from Santa Ana, Calif. who has defeated Roger Gonzalez, Jeremy McLaurin and Guillermo Sanchez in his last three fights. On July 28, he’ll look to keep that streak going against his Southern California rival Rodela.

Oxnard’s “Dangerous” David Rodela (16-6-3, 7 KO’s) is a popular Southern California junior lightweight who earned his fan base by being a true throwback fighter willing to bite down on his mouthpiece and go to war every time the bell rings. The owner of wins over tough competition such as Kevin Kelley, Gamalier Rodriguez and Julio Gamboa, the 30-year-old is 1-1 thus far in 2012 with a knockout win over Baudel Cardenas. Rodela will bring his exciting style to Fantasy Springs as he attempts to derail the Rios train.

Former Two-Time World Champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz (38-7, 27 KO’s) returns to the ring for the first time in over a year on July 28 and, at 32 years old, he is primed and ready to make a run for a third world title. The winner of two of his last three fights, defeating Herman Ngoudjo and Pavel Miranda, the popular battler from Coachella is happy to have his hometown fans in his corner for this pivotal bout.

Now fighting out of Miami, Florida, Colombia native Henry Aurad (14-4-1, 11 KO’s) is going to be a stern test for Diaz in his comeback fight, as he brings impressive power and a busy style into the ring with him. Like his opponent, Aurad has won two of his last three bouts. He plans on putting his knockout power to good use on July 28 in an effort to upset the pro-Diaz crowd at Fantasy Springs.

This evening of world class professional boxing is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate.  Doors open at 6:00pm PT on fight night and the first bell rings at 7:00pm PT.  The TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:00pm ET / PT. Tickets, priced at $25, $35 and $45, are available for purchase at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
