Robert Stieglitz is the new champion of the WBO super middleweight. Before 7,000 spectators in the sold-Arena Magdeburg GETEC he defeated former champion Arthur Abraham by technical knockout at the start of the fourth round. Achieved by a blow on the left eyelid swelling effect of the defending champions at the end of the second round made for a surprisingly quick end.

But first things first: Abraham started, as already known from his previous fights, rather subdued in the battle. Waiting on the actions of his opponent, he would wear down Stieglitz at his double coverage, only to be followed by your own actions. This recipe seems to be working at first seemed. While the challenger went vigorously forward, but his punches lacked the precision once. Abraham landed visible contrast with his first good combination in the face of his opponent.

Round two saw a more active world champion. The jab came suddenly becoming more common. Another good hit of the super middleweights brought strong impact with his right to the finish. But Stieglitz put on not. With an exhilarating pace, he marched again in the near distance. Both accepted the fight. Thus developed in the mid of the passage a tough slugfest. In consequence, the man from Saxony-Anhalt had the better end. A right-hand blow on the left part of the face of the defending led to quasi preliminary decision of the fight.

In the round break was already evident that Abraham was barely able to see properly with the left eye. This was shown by ringing the bell to ring round number three. Stieglitz realized pretty quickly the misery in which his opponent was and wanted to bring a quick end. But the man from Berlin was in the “lion’s den” heart. Abraham struck in the dying seconds of the passage again even better hands.

Then ring doctor Walter Wagner into play. He examined the left eye of Abraham only briefly and then to recommend termination of the struggle to referee Michael Ortega. Thus, the official verdict was a technical TKO in fourth round.

Stieglitz thanked after the end of the fight with the audience and looks forward to a decisive third duel with joy. “Viewers have pushed me forward my preparation has finally paid off, and the question after another rematch. I am always ready and give Arthur the chance again and again. ”

The dethroned former champion will necessarily deny a third fight against Stieglitz, “It is now a draw – a third fight needs to be decisive.”

This also his manager Wilfried Sauerland agrees: “Arthur has lost here today by an unfortunate injury when decency prevails, there will be another fight.”
