Tyson Fury was feeling pretty good. And who could blame him? He just defeated Wladimir Klitschko to become the new heavyweight world champion.
So he took control of his post-fight interview and started running his own show. He thanked Klitschko, and explained how he was playing a bit of a character in the lead-up to the fight. He apologized to Lennox Lewis for some previous trash talk, as Lewis was participating in the post-fight interviews.
Then he said he promised to sing a song after the fight, and so he did. He thanked his UK fans, Irish fans, American fans and all the rest, and then he dedicated his turn as a crooner to his wife.
“I don’t want to close my eyes, I don’t want to fall asleep… cause I love you baby, and I don’t want to miss a thing…”
Yes, that’s Aerosmith, I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.
And hey, he wasn’t all bad, either. Fury may have a second act in his career if his stint as heavyweight champion doesn’t last too long.
Yes, that’s our new heavyweight champion of the world right there. It’s certainly going to be a different era than the one we’ve been used to. But, love or hate the guy, you can count on it being more interesting than the last one.
