Almost a week has gone since Conor McGregor took on Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, in which the Irishman lost via a TKO to Mayweather. Kamegai praises Cotto after defeat

On Saturday night, Puerto Rican great, Miguel Cotto decisively defeated Japan’s Yoshihiro Kamegai for the vacant WBO title, at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California. Cotto, 36, who won his sixth world title of his career and plans to retire at the end of the year, had to deal with plenty of pressure from his opponent early on but was able to step up and was victorious by unanimous decision. 5 days remain for Joshua to agree Ortiz clash

Current WBA  and IBF Heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has just under 5 days to agree to a fight with Luis Ortiz, who was made the mandatory challenger for the WBA title by the World Boxing Association, after Wladimir Klitschko’s retirement meant no rematch between the Brit and the Ukranian. Joshua, was notified by the WBA after Klitschko announced his retirement, almost 30 days ago. Nathan Cleverly retires as Badou Jack becomes new WBA Light Heavyweight champion

Nathan Cleverly lost his WBA Light-Heavyweight title on Saturday night, on the undercard to Mayweather vs McGregor in Las Vegas, to Badou Jack via a fifth round stoppage. Cleverly, 30, who became the WBA champion when he defeated Juergen Braehmer last October, was having his first defence of the title against Swedish boxer, Badou Jack in Las Vegas, which ended to be his last in the ring. Swedish amateur star Oliver Flodin has signed a long-term promotional contact with Team Sauerland and will make his professional debut on September 30 on the undercard of the European Super Lightweight Championship contest between Anthony Yigit and Sandor Martin at the Solnahallen in Stockholm. History was made on Saturday night when Terence Crawford defeated Julius Indongo to become the undisputed Super-Lightweight champion at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln, Nebraska.
