Conor Benn says he will ignore calls for a trilogy with Chris Eubank Jr, should he gain revenge over his bitter rival on Saturday.

Benn seeks to avenge his April defeat to Eubank Jr when the pair rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, live on DAZN pay-per-view.

Should ‘The Destroyer’ emerge victorious, there could be calls for a rubber match, but the 29-year-old says he plans to return to welterweight in pursuit of a world title.

Asked what it would mean to beat Eubank Jr this time, Benn told Froch On Fighting: “it wouldn’t mean a trilogy for sure.

“No. I just want to get back down to my weight.

“I want to get that WBC [world title].

“My next fight’s scheduled for 147.

“I want to get on with my career.

“This is a fantasy fight for the public. It’s never been done before. It’s generational.

“I made history in that fight, but ultimately I’ve got some goals that I want to pursue.

“Whilst he’s saying he’s the people’s champ and all that, he’s near done.

“I still want to get that world title for me, just to tick it off.

“Just to say, ‘you know what, I’ve done it.’

“Imagine getting a world title.

“At least I’d have something that Chris has never got.”

Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans on Tuesday that he expects Eubank Jr to retire regardless of the result on Saturday.

Despite having not fought at 147lbs in over three years, Benn is ranked at four with the WBC behind champion, Mario Barrios who is reportedly in talks to defend his title against Ryan Garcia.

The Essex man admits he will be keeping a close eye on the November 22 clash between WBO welterweight champion, Brian Norman Jr and Devin Haney and is also keen on showdowns with IBF titlist, Lewis Crocker and Barrios.

“I’d like to fight Barrios,” he said on Inside The Ring.

“Once I’ve got the WBC title, it’s a hard once cause I sit there and I go I’d like to fight all the Americans, they are currently killing it.

“Obviously, you’ve got Lewis Crocker here who won the IBF title, but Devin Haney, Brian Norman, I’d love the winner.”
