Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant are set to meet in a history-making clash this weekend to determine the inaugural undisputed super middleweight champion.
Canelo (56-1-2, 38 KOs) puts his unified WBA ‘super’, WBC and WBO and Ring Magazine belts on the line, whilst Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) has his IBF crown at stake in one of the most highly-anticipated showdowns of the year in Las Vegas.
The pair came to blows at the face-off prior to their first press conference in September, with the American left with a cut by his right eye, which he later claimed was due to a scratch from his sunglasses.
Alvarez, who competes for the 60th time as a professional is the bookies favourite and will look to add to a legacy, which has seen him become a four-weight world champion and remain undefeated in 15 fights, since a sole professional defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2013.
Plant is undefeated in 21 fights and competes in his fifth world title fight, having made three defences of the belt he claimed with victory over Jose Uzcategui in 2019.
The winner will become the first undisputed super middleweight champion in history and only the second current four-belt owner, with Josh Taylor holding all the belts at super lightweight.
The victor will also become only the fifth undisputed champion since the four-belt era began with only Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk and the aforementioned Taylor achieving the feat.

Canelo vs Plant – What Has Been Said?
“It’s new for me to have this much bad blood with an opponent,” Canelo told SHOWTIME.
“It’s very different from normal and it’s definitely the most animosity I’ve had with an opponent heading into a big fight.
“I’m sticking with my prediction of a knockout before round eight.
“The first couple of rounds will be difficult, but as the fight progresses, I am going to be able to get him out of there.”
“This is personal for me, but every fight is personal for me,” Plant told SHOWTIME.
“I’ve sacrificed a lot for this sport and dedicated myself completely, so anybody who’s getting in the way of my goals makes it personal to me. No matter who it is.
“He says the first few rounds will be tough, but I’m saying all the rounds are going to be tough for him.
“He’s got a tall order in front of him. Me and my team are focused and ready. I’m just encouraging everyone to tune in, because it’s going to be fireworks.
“There have been some guys who lost before the bell even rang against Canelo. I think that’s why he’s so irritated with me. Some guys just come in and are there to hand over their belt, get their check and leave. Anyone who knows me, they know I’m only here for those belts.”
