Hughie Fury believes an all British heavyweight bout will take place once he beats Joseph Parker for the WBO title in New Zealand on 6th May 2017.

Hughie, cousin of former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, takes on Parker one week after Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko go head to head at Wembley Stadium and the 22-year-old hopes that Joshua can be victorious, in order to set up an all British unification title fight.

Whilst speaking to Sportinglife.com, Fury said “Hopefully Joshua comes through and I come through and then (a unification bout) would be a great fight for British fans”.

Fury is enjoying the competitiveness of the heavyweight division as he explained “The heavyweight division is buzzing at the moment and it’s great to be part of it. I have a tough fight coming up against Parker but if I win then I’ll be in a great position”.

Fury wont underestimate his opponent, Joseph Parker, when they take each other on for Parker’s WBO heavyweight title in his country of birth, New Zealand.

“I rate Parker – he’s one of the best heavyweights out there,” Fury said. And though the respect is clear to see between the two, Fury believes the title will be coming back home to Manchester with him.

“He’s young, hungry, skillful, but so am I so it should be a cracking fight. It doesn’t matter where the fight is, the outcome will be the same. Maybe when I get there it will sink in more but I’m a very calm person anyway so I’m just looking forward to getting there and getting acclimatised.”

“I am massively confident that I can go there and cause an upset. I wouldn’t be going all that way if I thought I couldn’t win and bring the belt back to Manchester. It’s my first world title fight but my dad has been through it all with Tyson so it’s great to have him there with me.

“We are a great team and since he started training me from the age of 15, I have never lost a fight when he has been in my corner”, Fury told Sportinglife.com.
