Grantland’s video feature on Peter Quillin

Grantland Premieres Digital Short on Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin

Grantland’s THE BRINK: Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin is an inside look at one of boxing’s most promising and charismatic figures. Our cameras follow Quillin, who overcame dire poverty as a child to become the undefeated #1 middleweight contender, on the most important night of his life: his first world title shot, at the Barclays Center in his adopted hometown of Brooklyn.

This is the first in director Jason Hehir’s short film series for Grantland chronicling the moment when a rising athlete/artist breaks through onto the big stage.

The full story on Grantland.com and the digital short is available here http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8706536/peter-kid-chocolate-quillin-first-title-fight.

Quillin is a charismatic character, and certainly has an interesting backstory. It’d be interested to learn more about how Grantland hooked up with him though for this kind of feature. Obviously the idea as explained is capturing somebody on the brink of breaking out into stardom, but considering the general lack of boxing coverage out there, this seems like an interesting or somewhat random choice.

But it’s a very well done video feature where you’ll learn about Quillin’s background and how he got to where he is today. You’ll also see some of the video highlights from his title-winning efforts, and his post-fight interview where he broke down and was overcome with emotions.
