How good is Terence Crawford?

Terence Crawford isn’t well known to all casual fans; however, to almost pure boxing fans, Terence Crawford is a top 5 Pound for Pound fighter. Known for his hand speed and his stance switching abilities, Crawford is quiet in his demeanour. Crawford has let his skills do the talking while asking for respect of fans, beating every challenger put in front of him.

Viktor Postol was fresh off his upset victory of the hard hitting Lucas Matthysse and many disrespected Crawford believing Postol was the best in the division. Months later Crawford dominated Postol via UD.

Back in 2014 Yuriorkis Gamboa had a lot of hype and was the betting favourite to defeat Crawford. Beyond 2 rounds of back and forth action, Crawford dominated Gamboa, eventually winning via KO in the 9th round.

Despite his undefeated record and dominating fighters who were expected to beat him, Crawford has yet to gain the respect he deserves. While he’s atop many Pound for Pound lists (5th on mine), he doesn’t get the coverage that Andre Ward, GGG, and Lomachenko get.

An eventual move up to the 147 division, which is the most competitive in the sport, would give Crawford bigger name fights, if Crawford is to win this weekend, his stamp will be permanent in the 140-pound division for years to come.

This weekend boxing will witness an event we don’t often see when the brilliant Terence Crawford (31-0, 22 KO) steps into the ring at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, to face Julius Indongo (22-0, 11 KO) for all the belts in the 140lbs division, with the winner becoming the undisputed champion. I am expecting Crawford to win, and not only take all of the belts, but also take the respect he’s been asking for.
