British boxing star Kell Brook is calling for a helping hand from boxing fans as he prepares to unleash the ‘Hand of Kell’ at Betfair’s This Is It in Sheffield on Saturday.

Ahead of his IBF welterweight World title final eliminator fight against Argentine Hector David Saldivia, local hero Brook, 26, has launched an appeal for fans to send him messages of support via Twitter, as the nation seeks payback for Maradona’s infamous ‘Hand of God’ in 1986.

Boxing fans can get behind ‘The Special One’ by tweeting their support using the hashtag #HandOfKell. The most inspirational ones will be printed onto a limited edition set of gloves ahead of the latest showdown between England and Argentina.

The person who sends the most motivating message as chosen by Kell will win the exclusive gloves.

Sheffield born fighter Brook said: “This is going to be the toughest fight of my career. Saldivia is a dangerous opponent and I really need my fans to get behind me. Their support can spur me on to that title shot.

“There’s a strong sporting rivalry between England and Argentina, and I’m going to do my bit to settle an old score. I hope the nation gets behind me this weekend.”

Kell Brook comes into fight at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on the back of a hard fought win over Carson Jones in July, and will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record. But the dangerous Argentine should not be under-estimated; he is a serious contender as his record of 32 KOs in his 41 wins proves.

Kell Brook will take on Argentina’s Hector David Saldivia in the official IBF welterweight title final eliminator at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield this Saturday, October 20th.
