New boxing promoters Sundown Entertainment looking to debut in Colorado

A new entertainment and boxing promotion company has begun in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sundown Entertainment LLC. The company plans to specialize in boxing promotions.

Co-CEOs/Owners Brandon Ortega and Nicholas Thompson are both Colorado natives who for years have had a passion for the sport of boxing.

In 2008 Ortega and Thompson began a boxing radio talk show at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Radio Station. The show helped them gain a wealth of boxing knowledge from watching countless professional fights, interviewing some of the world’s elite boxers, trainers, managers, and promoters. Ortega and Thompson also gained worldwide attention when they were featured in the February 2011 edition of boxing premier magazine, The Ring. The article focused on their Boxing Enthusiast club which they had started at their university to build a boxing fan base within the campus community.

Ortega gained additional experience in the boxing industry while working with Delgado Boxing Promotions, a Denver based boxing promotion company owned by Henry Delgado, manager of current WBO Welterweight World Champion Mike Alvarado. Additionally, Ortega worked with USA Boxing, which allowed him to gain experience working two major events which included the 2011 USA Boxing National Championships and the USA Boxing Olympic Trials.

Both Ortega and Thompson are graduates of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. “I strongly believe that our education and experience in the boxing industry will help us to quickly become the premier boxing promotion company in the Rocky Mountain Region,” said Ortega. “For the present time we will focus on the Colorado and Rocky Mountain Region, but our long-term goal is to become one of the world-class boxing promotion companies in the United States.”

Sundown Entertainment is currently working on presenting their first boxing card which they hope will take place in Colorado Springs before the end of the year. Thompson said, “As boxing fans and promoters, we know what fans want to see and we plan to put on some unforgettable shows.”
