Nick Ball has identified newly crowned WBC featherweight world champion, Rey Vargas as a future opponent and admits he would be willing to face the Mexican as soon as possible.
Ball (15-0, 8 KOs), who defends his WBC Silver crown against Nathanael Kakololo at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday, is rated at 15 with the governing body behind Vargas, who climbed off the canvas to beat Mark Magsayo in Texas last Saturday.
Whilst an immediate showdown seems unrealistic, the Liverpool man feels he would have the beating of the 31-year-old if they eventually clash.
“He’s another tall guy, 5 ft 10 in,” Ball told proboxing-fans.com at Thursday’s press conference.
“He’s another tall, skinny guy and I’ll just continue to keep folding them in half.
“If they’re in my way, I’ve got to go through them.
“I don’t really know [how many fights until a Vargas bout].
“As a fighter, I’m ready to go with him tomorrow.
“Obviously don’t look past this opponent, I don’t look past any opponent or underestimate anyone, but it’s whenever [promoter] Frank [Warren] and the team want to put me in for him.
“I’m ready whenever.”
The 25-year-old produced a career-best performance last time out stopping Isaac Lowe in six rounds at Wembley Stadium in April.
The Liverpool man, who is unbeaten in 15 professional fights, feels Kakololo (14-3-1, 6 KOs) is underestimating him and has vowed another spiteful display, on the undercard of Hamzah Sheeraz’s showdown with Francisco Torres, live on BT Sport.
“He’s probably got here today, made up with all these cameras,” he added.
“He’s looked at me thinking I’m small.
“That’s what he’s thriving on now that I’m smaller than him, but that’s not a problem to me.
“He’s good that he’s tall and skinny, I’ve been fighting lads like him my whole life, so that’s not a problem.
“[It’s going to be] another explosive performance from me, 100%.”
