Special Classic Fights on Solo Boxeo Tonight with Hopkins, Danny Garcia & Jorge Linares

With the October 15 Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson HBO Pay-Per-View event quickly approaching at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, TeleFutura will begin the countdown to the highly-anticipated card by revisiting some of the biggest bouts from featured fighters Bernard Hopkins, Jorge Linares and Danny Garcia on a special edition of TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate Classics” on Friday, October 7.

In the “Classics” main event, viewers will see the fight in which future Hall of Famer Hopkins began his string of world-shocking performances as he moved up from middleweight to the light heavyweight division and defeated Antonio Tarver in 2006. Viewers will also see Linares take on long-time contender Rocky Juarez in a 2010 fight and the fight in which Garcia introduced himself to the next level of the fight game with a fourth round knockout over Mike Arnaoutis in 2010.

The special presentation of “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T and will air on TeleFutura at 11:30pm ET/PT (10:30pm CT).

With his legacy already secure, Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) could have walked off into the sunset and retired years ago, but the 46-year-old legend, who became the oldest man to win a major title when he defeated Jean Pascal for the WBC and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight World Titles in May, is far from done as he approaches his world championship showdown with former World Champion “Bad” Chad Dawson. To see how much gas is left in the tank of this amazing warrior, all one has to do is look at his first bout at light heavyweight since his professional debut, when, at the age of 41, he stunned the heavily favored Antonio Tarver on June 10, 2006, putting on a 12 round clinic en route to one of his greatest victories to date.

Getting ready for a WBC Lightweight World Championship fight against Antonio DeMarco that would make him a three division world titlist if he emerges victorious, Venezuela’s Jorge “El Nino De Oro” Linares (31-1, 20 KO’s) showed off the skills that make him a dangerous man at 135 pounds when he dropped rugged contender Rocky Juarez en route to a 10-round victory in Las Vegas on July 31, 2010.

Philadelphia’s Danny “Swift” Garcia (21-0, 14 KO’s) will face his toughest test of his career on October 15 when he takes on former World Champion Kendall “Rated R” Holt, but the 23-year-old proved that he was more than ready for prime time on October 8, 2010 when he knocked out contender Mike Arnaoutis in the fourth round of their junior welterweight showdown. The fight caught the attention of the boxing community and helped earn him a shot at Holt which will be a 12-round bout for the vacant NABO Junior Welterweight Title as well as an eliminator for the number one rating by the WBC and the number two rating by the IBF.
