Adonis “Superman” Stevenson continued his hot streak by dominating Tavoris “Thunder” Cloud on Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Cloud’s corner called a halt to the action after 7 rounds, with their man having no answer for the speed and power of Stevenson.

Stevenson defended his WBC Light Heavyweight title against the former titleholder, beating him to the punch, dictating the action and really controlling the entire fight from beginning to end.

With the win, Stevenson, one of the hardest hitters in boxing, improves to 22-1, with 19 KOs, and continues a later career and late age renaissance which has taken him to great heights.

Cloud falls to 24-2, but even at a relatively young age, it seems like his best days are well behind him. If you count his fight against Gabriel Campillo, which was widely viewed as a blatant robbery, he has lost three straight bouts over the past 18 months. Prior to that, Cloud’s best wins were over very faded versions of Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson.

As for Stevenson, he can pick and choose right now. He could stay idle and take on the winner of the Lucian Bute vs. Jean Pascal bout, or he could seek a hard-hitting, can’t-miss showdown against the undefeated Sergey Kovalev.

Stevenson has had his critics despite his KO1 effort against champion Chad Dawson. To them, that was a one round fluke, and Stevenson was nothing but an athletic fighter who had previously been exposed and knocked out. But this win helps to more firmly establish Stevenson’s placement in the 175 lbs scene, and make no mistake, you don’t want to catch one of his punches flush, or you’ll be in serious trouble.

It’ll be interesting to see where Stevenson goes from here. Check back with us later in the weekend for more coverage of the Stevenson vs. Cloud results.
