The entire boxing event scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, June 6, at Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa where South African native Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu (16-1, 11 KOs) was scheduled to face Brazilian Julio “Gaspar” Cesar Dos Santos (26-2, 23 KOs) has been cancelled.

Real Steel Promotions’ says they are postponing the event.  According to a notice posted on Real Steel’s website the show was postponed “[d]ue to logistical reasons and circumstances beyond our control.”

According to Thabiso’s co-promoter Damian Michael of Show Pony Promotions, “It is not an ideal situation when something like this happens at the last minute but unfortunately that is the nature of the boxing business in a third world country. Now we are going to focus on returning to the United States to fight and winning a world title.”

“We are so sorry to hear that this event will not take place as planned.  I cannot imagine how upset Thabiso and Damian must be.” said Kathy Duva of Main Events, Mchunu’s co-promoter.  “We are working with Damian to find another fight for Thabiso and will continue with our plans to bring Mchunu back to the US later this year.”
