Thurman vs. Guerrero Round by Round Results

Rd 1: Thurman is clearly intent on making a statement here, taking the front foot early. Thurman lands some thudding body shots with Guerrero on the ropes. Guerrero tries to fire back, but is met with cleaner work from Thurman.

Rd 2: Thurman landing some eye-catching work here, with solid overhand rights connecting. Guerrero lands one of his own, but generally it’s Thurman that makes the crowd gasp in approval with his work. He’s also investing intelligently to the body.

Rd 3: Thurman’s really committing coming forward, but Guerrero is starting to bring him onto shots and has some success of his own with a nice straight left. As the two come together an accidental clash of heads leads to some swelling on the left of Thurman’s forehead. Looks nasty, but the round was his.

Rd 4: Thurman starts off with his hands up, protecting the swelling, but soon resumes his attacking raids. The straight right hand is causing Guerrero problems. Guerrero is trying to time Thurman coming in, and occasionally makes him pay a price, but his work isn’t frequent enough to reward him with the round.

Rd 5: Guerrero has been the aggressor here, coming forward and trying to find angles. Thurman uses his feet well though and he can’t miss with the right hand. Guerrero starts swinging and lands a good straight left down the middle. He’d be well advised to throw the shot more often here.

Rd 6: Thurman nearly turns Guerrero around with a straight right-left hook combo. Guerrero looking warier of Thurman’s attacks now. Thurman tattoos Guerrero with shots towards end of the round. The first round where Guerrero looked seriously discouraged.

Rd 7: Guerrero barely laid a glove on Thurman in that round. Thurman even went southpaw for a brief spell, if anything to keep himself entertained. Thurman looks to be pulling clear here.

Rd 8: Thurman’s swelling looks worse by the round, but his performance is only getting better. His footwork and timing were on point once again in the eighth, Guerrero looks a beaten man at this stage.

Rd 9: The fight comes alive as Thurman puts Guerrero on the canvas with a left hook followed up by a right uppercut. Guerrero gets up and confirms he wants to carry on, but he’s immediately under pressure from Thurman with straight rights. Guerrero has a cut on his left eyebrow to boot now.

Rd 10: Guerrero bores in after a brief stoppage to have his tape re-done. He finally makes it his fight, pinning Thurman to the ropes and working away with the uppercut. Thurman leans into the ropes and lands the cleaner work, but Guerrero deserves respect for making it an exciting round and forcing Thurman to fight.

Rd 11: This round is punctuated by a solid Thurman right hand that temporarily stops Guerrero in his tracks. Thurman used his feet well here and Guerrero couldn’t quite make it the tear-up he wanted.

Rd 12: Credit to both men as they give it all they’ve got for the final three. Guerrero continues coming forward, but is met by clean straight rights and uppercuts to the body. Guerrero didn’t have much success, but he eventually turned what looked like Thurman’s coming-out party into a valuable learning fight.

Broner vs. Molina Round by Round Results

Rd 1: Not much happening here. Broner feeling Molina out with the jab, taking the center of the ring. Molina barely threw anything in a quiet opening round.

Rd 2: Molina is struggling to find openings as Broner keeps the jab working. Molina still on the back-foot while Broner boxes fairly comfortably. Molina tried to make it dirty on the inside but was also warned by the referee for use of the head.

Rd 3: Broner’s jab is proving a difficult weapon to get past for Molina. Molina begins to swing, landing two consecutive right hooks, but he misses more than he throws. Reckless and wild perhaps, but at least he’s starting to make Broner work.

Rd 4: Broner looked relaxed in that round, jabbing to head and body, landing straight 1-2’s down the pipe and keeping Molina off. Molina is going to have to put punches together.

Rd 5: Slightly more encouraging signs for Molina as he starts to throw in combinations. Broner has a word in Molina’s air during a clinch. Molina has his best moments on the inside, but Broner doesn’t look unruffled yet.

Rd 6: Molina continues to miss when he throws single punches. Broner is boxing well, but within himself. Another Broner round.

Rd 7: Broner slips away whenever Molina threatens or tries to land. He’s made this look easy so far and he’s starting to enjoy himself, throwing an array of shots including a lovely left hook on the inside.

Rd 8: Broner is working through his repertoire of shots now, including another short left hook and right-handed digs to the body. Every time Molina lunges forward Broner dances away unscathed. He even had time for some vintage showboating in a clinch on the ropes.

Rd 9: Has Molina even thrown a jab in this fight? It surely couldn’t do any harm. Broner is tagging him with ease and doesn’t even look out of breath. It’s like watching a less technically-savvy Maidana fighting Broner, and that’s saying something.

Rd 10: Broner working the jab and following up with hooks and uppercuts. Molina ends the rounds by bulling into Broner and throwing aimless overhand shots, which is as close as he has come to troubling his foe. Another easy round for Broner.

Rd 11: Broner complains when Molina puts his head in up close. No other difficulties here for ‘The Problem’. Molina has looked pretty forlorn for a few rounds, he may as well go hell for leather in the final three minutes. He sure isn’t winning a decision.

Rd 12: Broner uses his legs and the full width of the ring as Molina obliges him by following him around the ring. Broner could and probably should have finished with more of a bang. All in all a pretty painful 12 rounds. Rematch anyone? Uhm….
