Boxing's history is as rich and storied as any sport or competition that has ever existed throughout the world. In fact, when compared to many other sports, the history of boxing is not only lengthier, but even more prominent, while also being interwoven with culture, society and the people that inhabited it to a much higher degree. Today, it might seem funny to think about boxing as the biggest sport in the country, or that the best fighter in the world would also be the country's biggest celebrity, but these things and more were true of the sport at various points over the past 100 years.
The history of boxing dates back thousands of years, to the ancient Greeks at least, and extends upwards through its illegal days of bare-knuckle brawls lasting dozens of rounds and the thriving British underground scene, to the introduction of the Marquess of Queensberry rules, the transformation of the sport to its modern form, its reign over the American sporting and entertainment kingdom, and its more niche role in today's sporting scene in the USA, with various hot-pockets of interest throughout the world.
Consider this your launching pad into boxing history, taking you through the ups and downs, biggest fighters and fights, and all of the rest of the juicy details of the history of boxing, the sweet science.

Dear Sir/Madam
I am about to publish a book titled “Famous Pugilists of the English Prize Ring 1719-1870″ which I hope will be out in a few months. It will contain an illustration (head and shoulders) of most of the pugilists their life story and recorded ring record. About 90 fighters are described, all of the Heavyweight Champions of England from Figg to Wormald, and the most prominent boxers of the lighter weights, about 90 fighters n all in a paperback book of about 200 pages of 9″ X 6″. The price will have to be dicussed with the publisher, however it should cost around £10-£14 or 12 euros of just under 16 dollars. If you would be interested in purchasing a copy (s) please email me as I would like an idea of how many to order from the publishers. Thank you.
Regards
Michael Hill
