Official Team Khan Statement on Controversial Loss to Peterson

Team Khan isn’t too happy about losing last night’s fight to Lamont Peterson. They believe they won the fight and deserved the decision, and as Khan said in the post-fight interviews, he felt like he was fighting two people in the ring, Peterson and the referee. Check out the official Team Khan statement on the loss to Peterson, as they talk about the fight itself, about Peterson and about a rematch.

Official Team Khan Statement on Loss to Peterson:

Firstly, we would like to congratulate Lamont Peterson on his performance against Amir Khan.  Not only has he shown that he is a tremendous fighter inside the ring, but also a great man out of the ring.

Following the decision in the fight, Team Khan and Golden Boy Promotions intends to make inquiries with the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission, the IBF and the WBA regarding the performance of referee Joseph Cooper and will also be seeking clarification regarding certain ambiguities with respect to the scores of the fight.

We look forward to an immediate rematch with Lamont as confirmed by Lamont and his manager/trainer Barry Hunter.

So we’ll see now how this all plays out and if an immediate rematch will take place, or if Khan and his people prefer to simply move on to the welterweight scene, or even if Peterson tries to get in another title defense before that happens.

Either way, a great fight and a great night of fights and boxing action in the nation’s capital.
