Arslanbek Makhmudov took the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight title with a dominant points win over Dave Allen in Sheffield on Saturday.

Allen was coming off a rematch win over Johnny Fisher in May, stopping ‘The Romford Bull’ in five rounds, while Makhmudov was fresh off a first-round blowout of Ricardo Brown in June.

As expected, Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) started well, with a hard right hand landing in the opening round, and a flurry of punches getting Allen’s attention in round two.

Allen (24-8-2, 19 KOs) had success in round three, backing the Russian up, but the visitor was well on top.

After another solid frame for the 36-year-old, he began to tire, and the ’White Rhino’ had a decent fifth, with Makhmudov holding at several junctures, eventually losing a point for it in round seven.

The ‘Lion’ was still pumping punches out, and they were eye-catching ones, but he had to come through a crisis in the ninth, with an uppercut followed by a combination staggering him back, and he did well to steady the ship, getting the better of round ten.

Although Allen battled, he couldn’t sustain his successes, and Makhmudov was getting the better of the argument, although he was docked another point for holding in the final session, but his win was not in doubt as the fight went to the cards.

Scores of 117-109, 116-110 and 115-111 sealed the win for the visitor, who called for a clash with Anthony Joshua afterwards.

“Hey Anthony Joshua,” Makhmudov told DAZN.

“I come for you brother. I’m ready brother.

“Anthony Joshua, let me know when.”

Padley battles past Bellotti

Josh Padley moved down to super featherweight, and he won the WBA International title by taking a points win over former British and Commonwealth champion, Reece Bellotti (20-7, 15 KOs).

Padley (17-1, 5 KOs) ran out the winner by one score of 99-92, and two more at 97-93.

Fawaz beats Bostan in rematch

A rematch for the vacant English super welterweight title on the card was a thriller, and Bilal Fawaz took the crown with a hard-fought majority decision win against Junaid Bostan (10-1-1, 8 KOs).

The pair fought to a draw in their original clash in January, and their sequel was equally as entertaining, and at the end of ten breathless rounds, scores of 96-95 and 96-94 sealed victory for Fawaz (10-1-1, 3 KOs), with a third judge ruling the fight a 95-95 draw.

Remaining Undercard

Hamza Uddin (6-0, 3 KOs) took the vacant English flyweight and WBA Intercontinental titles, as he dropped Paul Roberts (7-7-2, 2 KOs) three times in round five, before the 29-year-old’s corner threw in the towel.

The sole eight-rounder came at super featherweight, and Ibraheem Sulaimaan (9-0, 4 KOs) won all available sessions against James Chereji (22-7, 10 KOs).

In six-round action, welterweight hope Joe Hayden (20-0, 2 KOs) dropped Angelo Dragone (10-9, 1 KO) in the fourth round of their meeting, before winning 60-53 on the referee’s card, and Joe Howarth (14-1, 4 KOs) won all six frames against Karl Sampson (9-60-1, 1 KO) at super lightweight.

Conner Tudsbury (3-0, 2 KOs) was a fourth-round stoppage winner against Khalid Graidia (13-16-5, 4 KOs) in their light heavyweight contest.
