Christian Mbili faces Macej Sulecki on Friday ESPN+ televise live in the USA.

The big-punching  Mbili moves closer to a world title shot this Friday evening at Cantre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada, as he goes for the interim WBC super middleweight title against Sulecki in an Eye of the Tiger promoted show.

Born in Cameroon, and a French National now living in Montreal, Mbili (28-0, KO23) has climbed the ranks in the last couple of years.

‘Solide’ boxed three times in 2024, starting with a sixth-round retirement win against Rohan Murdock, and he then wiped out former British champion Mark Heffron with a body shot in just 40 seconds of their clash in May last year.

Three months later came a career-best success for Mbili, as he controlled his ten-rounder against the teak-tough Sergey Derevyanchenko to record a wide points win in what was the eighth defence of his WBC Continental Americas title.

Poland’s Sulecki (33-3, KO13) is next up for Mbili, with the Warsaw man looking to challenge for world honours for a second time.

After winning a thriller on the cards against Gabe Rosado in 2019, where both were down twice, Sulecki then challenged for the WBO world title, at middleweight, but was thrashed on points by Demetrius Andrade.

Four low-key wins followed until Sulecki was knocked out in six by Diego Pacheco last August, although he did bounce back by winning the taking the vacant WBC Silver title with a final-round stoppage of Ali Akhmedov in February on away soil.

Prediction: Mbili is getting better with each win, and I think he will have too much for Sulecki here, and can wear the Pole down for a stoppage win at around the halfway mark.

Arslanbek Makhmudov vs Ricardo Brown

The undercard features Arslanbek Makhmudov (19-2, KO18) in action, and the heavyweight takes on Ricardo Brown (12-0, KO11) over a scheduled ten rounds.

Makhmudov made a promising start to professional life, but quickly unraveled with stoppage losses to Agit Kabayel in 2023, and Guido Vianello in his last contest in eight rounds.

This one isn’t likely to go the distance, with Brown only going the duration once, which was an eight round points win over Adam Kolarik last October.

Prediction: Makhmudov has looked shaky in his last few outings, but he should be able to stop his Jamaican opponent early in this one.

Remaining Undercard

In another ten-rounder, former world title challenger Steven Butler (35-5-1, KO29) may need the distance to take the win against Jose de Jesus Macias (29-13-4, KO15), with the Mexican only stopped once in 13 defeats.

Leila Beaudoin (12-1, KO1) can defend her WBO International super featherweight title with a points win against Elhem Mekhaled (17-3, KO3), and Jhon Orobio (13-0, KO11) should take the WBC Continental Americas super lightweight title with a stoppage win over Zsolt Osadan (27-3-1, KO17).

Christopher Guerrero (14-0, KO8) can defend his WBC Continental Americas welterweight title with a win on the cards against Sandy Messaoud (20-8, KO1). Lightweight prospect Luis Santana (13-0, KO6) can stay unbeaten with a stoppage win against Eduardo Estela (17-4, KO12).

In super middleweight eight round contests, Wilkens Matieu (13-0, KO9) can win his contest against Adagio McDonald (8-1, KO6) on points, and Moreno Fendero (11-0, KO9) can score a stoppage win over Billi Facundo Godoy (41-8, KO20).

The only six-rounder should see Wyatt Sandford (2-0, KO2) halt Mark Andrejev (4-1, KO0) in their super lightweight contest.
