Jaron Ennis took a dig at Oscar De La Hoya after the promoter warned him from attending Vergil Ortiz Jr’s fight with Erickson Lubin on Saturday.
Ennis along with his promoter Eddie Hearn are expected to be in attendance at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth to scout Ortiz Jr ahead of a potential mega fight next year.
‘Boots’ called out Ortiz after wiping out Uisma Lima in a round to win the WBA interim super welterweight title last month.
De La Hoya though warned the Philadelphia man from coming to watch the WBC interim super welterweight champion in action live, claiming that he may backtrack on his desire to face him should he attend.
“I hear that Boots is coming to the fight with Eddie Hearn,” he said during Thursday’s final press conference.

“My worry is that if they see Vergil in person, they’re not going to want to fight him.
”So maybe you should just stay home and watch it from home, because Vergil Ortiz in person is a dangerous man.”
According to Hearn, Ennis has signed his part of the deal to face the 27-year-old next year.

‘Boots’ responded to De La Hoya in a social media post on Thursday with a video of Floyd Mayweather Jr before their 2007 clash, which Mayweather won by split decision.
In the video, Mayweather mocked the six-weight world champion and said: “Hi my name is Oscar De La Hoya.
“I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.
“You ain’t gonna do s***.”

Ortiz returns to the ring for the first time since overcoming former world champion, Israil Madrimov on points in Riyadh in February.
Lubin, a former world title challenger, looks to win the WBC interim belt at the second attempt after being retired in nine rounds by now-WBC champion, Sebastian Fundora in April 2022.
‘The Hammer’ has bounced back with three straight wins since and Ortiz is expecting the 30-year-old to provide a stiff test.
“I think it’s going to be a challenging fight,” the Texan told reporters on Thursday.

“Lubin is no pushover.
“He’s not here to lay down and lose and collect the pay cheque.
“He’s here to win.
“He wants to be a world champion as well.
“I’m not looking past him at all. It’s going to be a hard fight.”
