Jaron Ennis makes his super welterweight debut on Saturday against Angola’s Uisma Lima in Philadelphia.

Ennis headlines in his hometown for the third time in four bouts and is vying for the WBA interim title as well as Lima’s IBO strap at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, previously named the Wells Fargo Center.

The home favourite moved up in weight after unifying the welterweight division with a sixth round hammering of Eimantas Stanionis in April.

The visitor heads in as a relative unknown, but only having lost once in his 15-fight professional career, on the scorecards to Aaron McKenna in 2023.

The 32-year-old is rated in the top 10 by three of the four governing bodies, while Ennis is the number one contender to both WBC champion, Sebastian Fundora and WBA titlist, Abass Baraou.

According to his promoter, Eddie Hearn, Boots’ has signed to fight WBC interim champion, Vergil Ortiz Jr, who defends his crown against Erickson Lubin on November 8.
