Chris Eubank Sr has made no secret of his disapproval for his son’s fast approaching fight with Conor Benn, and reporter Gareth A Davies was the latest to be on the receiving end of some stick from the former world champion.
Eubank Jr will lock horns with Benn on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, over 30 years on from the second of their fathers’ two epic wars.
‘The Destroyer’ will jump up a division to take on the Brighton man at middleweight, though a 10lb next day rehydration clause is in place for both men.
And it is these stipulations that Chris Sr has his biggest grievances with – and was quick to remind a bewildered Davies of that fact today in footage captured by Seconds Out.
Eubank and Davies were both in attendance at a charity walk with Michael Watson, who was left with lifelong brain damage following a gruelling 1991 showdown with ‘English.’

“You’re supposed to be a journalist, right? So support the rules!
“The rules are, don’t do the wrong weights. Weights fight the same weights.
“Every time you speak on this farce coming up, you are disgracing yourself.
“You have authority – do your job! Forget about my voice, what’s your voice? You are a journalist.
“They’re breaking the rules. And when you break the rules, you are a country of baboons.
“This is Great Britain. We developed boxing. So stick to the rules.”

Though the fight between Eubank Jr and Benn undoubtedly has its critics in the boxing world, it is on track to be one of the biggest bouts to take place on British shores for years and is expected to perform well at both the ticketing gate and on pay-per-view.
Hype for the bout went into overdrive after Eubank Jr slapped his younger rival with an egg following an ill-tempered launch press conference in Manchester, which has added an extra layer of bad blood to proceedings – not that it was needed.
