Prince Naseem Hamed was asked about Fury vs Joshua but instead chose to speak on Daniel Dubois’ chances against Oleksandr Usyk;
Usyk vs Dubois is just one month away and Naseem Hamed had his say.
He admitted “That fight is right there and everyone still wants to see it but to be honest we have still got Daniel Dubois”.
The way ‘Nas’ pivoted the subject to Dubois shows his belief in the Brit against the unbeaten Usyk.
Hamed spoke to The Stomping Ground about his chances in the rematch.
He spoke from experience saying, “I was sat next to Daniel Dubois and in my eyes ‘Triple D’ (DDD) is the only one we’ve ever seen hurt Usyk.
Usyk remained undefeated in his professional career and, following his clash with Dubois, went on to dethrone ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury in a historic unification bout.
Many questioned Usyk’s ability to withstand shots to the body in the run-up to both of their fights.
This came as a result of Dubois ‘dropping’ Usyk in their first meeting.
This shot was ruled as a low blow and Dubois was eventually stopped in the ninth round.
Low blow or not it is evident Usyk was hurt and the Brit is coming for his revenge on July 19th, feeling he was ‘Robbed’ of a massive win in their first fight.
Hamed stated “He put him down on the floor and made him think”.
Dubois’ power is likely a big key to victory and the retired Yorkshire fighter said “Who’s to say once he fights Usyk again he won’t absolutely destroy him and bring our belts back to our country like they’re supposed to be.
Despite Usyk being ‘destroyed’ seeming unlikely, ‘Dynamite’ Dubois has proved he has the power to stop anyone in the division, clear in his most recent outings including against Anthony Joshua.
It is clear Hamed sees ‘DDD’ as a real threat to Usyk and holds a sense of pride and belief for his countryman.
Dubois and his team maintain the belief that the shot that put Usyk down was a ‘clean punch’ and Hamed clearly agrees or believes it exposed a weakness when he says “He made him think”.
Since losses to Joe Joyce and the Ukrainian in their first fight Dubois is in the form of his life.
Following wins over Jarrell Miller, Fillip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua he comes in to the rematch with a new sense of belief.
it is clear this belief is rubbing off, with many picking the Brit to become undisputed.
With Dubois weeks away from the biggest fight of his career Prince Naseem Hamed believes he can pick up a huge victory.
