Eddie Hearn admits he is keen to see a clash between Darren Till and Carl Froch.

Froch, who was promoted by Hearn for the last five bouts of his career, was angrily confronted by Till at ringside on Saturday after the Liverpudlian’s third round knockout over Luke Rockhold, before security intervened.

The 48-year-old, who hasn’t fought since knocking out George Groves at Wembley Stadium in 2014, exited the AO Arena swiftly after Till’s callout and later described it as a “mismatch.”

“Do I want it to happen?” The Nottingham man said on his YouTube channel Froch On Fighting.

“Realistically probably not.

“I retired 11 years ago and when I retired when I was almost 37, I just rendered George Groves unconscious, I was offered a lot of money to fight Chavez Jr, I was offered a lot of money to fight Gennady Golovkin.

“The desire was gone and when the desire is gone, you’re not going to jump in a boxing ring, because it’s the pain game, it’s the hurt game, you can get seriously injured.

“Why would I fight now? Why would I bother? Well, easy money.

“I’m thinking to myself they’re giving money away with these fights, because Darren Till is absolutely f***ing useless.

“I’m talking about professional boxing level.

“At the level he’s at he’s done alright. He’s got decent balance, he throws a decent backhand from the southpaw stance, but let’s be honest this would be a mismatch even at 48-years-old, retired 11 years, it’s a mismatch.”

Till, a former UFC welterweight title challenger, secured his third professional boxing win, having previously beaten Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart.

Hearn admits he’s doubtful whether Froch would end his retirement to face the 32-year-old and fears the bout could now be a 50-50.

“I think it’s a cracking match-up,” the Matchroom Chairman told IFLTV.

“I don’t think Carl should be boxing again, but this is a bit different.

“He won’t do, because it’s not enough money, because if Carl got beat to Darren Till, it would be a tough pill to swallow.

“He was well overmatched against Rockhold, but I actually don’t mind Till against Froch, I’d watch it.

“It’s not like it’s Froch against some random YouTuber, Till can fight, but the age and the size makes it dare I say a 50-50.

“I don’t know I don’t want to insult Carl, but when you haven’t boxed for 10+ years, it’s different.”
