Anthony Joshua’s return to the ring seems to be getting closer and his promoter, Eddie Hearn has revealed a name on his list.

Hearn has promoted Joshua for Matchroom since his professional debut in 2013.

The 35-year-old is set to return most likely in the early part of next year after recovering from elbow surgery after his most recent loss to Daniel Dubois

Hearn spoke to Sky Sports and opened the lid on his next opponent.

“Tony Yoka, he’s definitely on a list of, I don’t know, ten?”

Joshua was last in action over a year ago where he was brutally stopped in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

He was dominated by former Team GB teammate – Dubois who dropped him a total of four times.

Since that loss a rematch was mentioned but never materialised with many questioning where Joshua’s future lies in the sport.

Hearn revealed the ideal candidate for his next fight admitting it is a comeback and is unlikely to be someone competing at the top of the division.

“I expect it to be a top 20 guy. It’s not going to be top five.

“This is a comeback fight that should possess some danger to show that we’re ready to roll the dice in a massive fight.

“Nothing really discussed, no offers made.

“But I’ll be going to see AJ next week and we’re ready to lock it in.”

One opponent that continues to be paired with Joshua is Jake Paul.

It is no secret both parties were looking to make a fight with a breakdown in negotiations after broadcasting disagreements.

The American is set to face WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis on November 14 in an exhibition but his business partner, Nakisa Bidarian has revealed negotiations have continued for a fight with Joshua.

He stated that a agreement in principle has been met for a fight in early 2026.

Another possible option for Joshua’s next fight is one in Ghana. The Ring Magazine recently reported that an offer has been made to Hearn for his next contest to take place in Accra.

An obvious name that Joshua may face is the now-retired Tyson Fury after their over-decade long feud.
