Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing returns to The Paramount in Huntington, New York on Friday, July 18th with a Friday Night Fights card headlined by a ten round junior welterweight clash between Emanuel “The Tranzformer” Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland and San Fransico’s Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield.

Co-featured on the nationally televised event is the return of popular knockout artist, “The Hebrew Hammer” Cletus Seldin of Long Island, making his national television debut, in an eight round junior welterweight clash against an opponent to be announced.

“We’re very excited to return to The Paramount with another outstanding nationally televised card. Taylor and Mayfield is a true cross-roads fight with the winner getting right back in the upper tier of the world rankings” said DeGuardia. ‘Each is coming off a tough loss and looking to gain the terrific momentum their careers previously held.

“For Cletus, the fans on Long Island already know the electricity he brings to the ring, he truly epitomizes the term ‘all-action fighter’. Fighting on ESPN gives him the opportunity to show the boxing world that he belongs among the top echelon of prospects in the junior welterweight division.”

Continued DeGuardia “We are also going to pay special tribute to our new champion, Chris Algieri. He made his bones fighting at The Paramount, selling it out numerous times and his story of winning the title over Ruslan Provodnikov on June 14 has captured the interest of boxing fans all over the world.”

Despite being dropped twice in the first round and a closed right eye, Algieri valiantly fought on to win the world championship title. The fight, which was telecast LIVE on HBO from the Barclays Center in front of massive crowd of Long Island fight fans, the broadcast was the third highest rating boxing event of the 2014.

“This is our 14th event at The Paramount and we’re very proud to have led the renaissance of boxing on Long Island. With each of our prior events selling out, I’d strongly encourage fans to purchase their tickets in advance.”

Sporting a record of 17-2-0 with 12 knockouts, the 23-year-old Taylor will look to return to the win column following a ten-round decision loss to Algieri on February 14, also telecast on ESPN FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS from The Paramount.

Prior to the battle with Algieri, Taylor had two outstanding performances, knockouts of world ranked Victor Cayo and once-beaten Ray Serrano.

Mayfield, 18-1-1 (11KO’s), will also look to return to the win column following the first loss of his career, a very close, HBO televised decision to Thomas Dulorme on March 29th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Over the course of his eight-year professional career Mayfield has fought and beaten numerous top names including Steve Forbes, Mauricio Herrera, Ray Serrano and Patrick Lopez.

With a record of 13-0-0 with ten knockouts, the 27-year-old Seldin has built a reputation among Long Island fans as a must-see attraction for his show-stopping knockouts.

On April 24th, Seldin stunned the standing room only crowd at The Paramount with an explosive seventh round knockout of Wilfredo Acuna.

As part of the sensational evening of world class professional boxing, Star Boxing will also pay tribute to “The Fighting Pride of Huntington”, new World Boxing Organization Junior Welterweight Champion Chris Algieri.

Advance tickets starting at $50, are on sale through Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.com), the Star Boxing website (StarBoxing.com) and The Paramount Box Office, phone (631) 673-7300. Doors on the night of the event will open at 6:30 p.m. with the first bell at 7:00 p.m.
