Abdullah Mason was elevated to main event status on ESPN at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, and he forced the doctor to step in and stop his contest with Jeremia Nakathila at the start of the fifth round of their lightweight bout.
Keyshawn Davis was due to defend his WBO lightweight title for the first time in his hometown against Edwin De Los Santos, but he spectacularly blew the weight, weighing in over four pounds over the limit, and the contest was scrapped.
The show went on with Mason as the headliner, and he was coming off his first scheduled ten-rounder, where he picked up vacant NABF and WBO NABO lightweight titles with a sixth-round retirement win against Carlos Ornelas in April. Nakathila had challenged for the interim WBO super featherweight title in 2021, where he was routed on the cards against Shakur Stevenson, but he had won his last three in his native Namibia after early losses to Raymond Muratalla and Ernesto Mercado in 2023.
Mason (19-0, KO17) worked well to the body of Nakathila (26-5, KO21) in the first round, and also established his jab in a patient opener. Mason’s left hand also found the mark in round two, and by round three, he was cranking up the pressure on his opponent, as a huge left hand wobbled the visitor, who was relieved to hear the bell to end the round. A right hook in the fourth from Mason had Nakathila’s legs all at sea, and he then had further successes during the round as Nakathila’s challenge was fading fast. Nakathila then complained that he couldn’t see from accumulated damage to his eye, and the ringside doctor was called. He advised the referee to stop the contest, and Mason was declared the winner.
Continues to be the man to watch.

Keyshawn Davis’ brother Kelvin Davis (15-1, KO8) did see action on the bill, and the super lightweight was upset in his first scheduled ten-rounder as he dropped a majority decision to Nahir Albright (17-2, KO7). Albright was a worthy winner, but one judge returned a 95-95 scorecard. This was overruled by scores of 97-93 and 96-94 in Albright’s favour.
95-95 is a criminal score card
Nahir Albright beats Kelvin Davis by Majority decision and hands him his first loss. The fight wasnt even close imo and most everyone else's. #MasonNakhatila pic.twitter.com/MdnYRO4y6S

It was reported after the fight that, both of Kelvin Davis brothers, Keyshaw Davis and his younger brother Keon Davis, were both involved in an altercation with Nahir Albright which resulted in Keyshawn Davis being escorted from the stadium by Police.
Keyshawn Davis was on some sucka shit. Not making weight was bad enough, maybe even potentially being a distraction to Kelvin. But then he and his "little brother" Keon decided to jump Nahir Albright, and he nearly got into a full-on brawl with his own kid nearby just after that?… pic.twitter.com/6TR7naefAH
