Joseph Parker is already looking towards a possible fight with Daniel Dubois.

Parker and Dubois were set to face off in February, but the Brit was forced to pull out in fight week.

The New Zealander is now set to return this weekend as he faces unbeaten Fabio Wardley.

The winner of this clash is set to get a shot at Oleksandr Usyk, who is currently sat at the top of the division after becoming a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion following his destructive win over Dubois in July.

Parker was unfortunate not to get a shot at Usyk’s belts, after becoming the WBO mandatory challenger, with the Ukrainian granted an extension on negotiations due to injury.

Rather than waiting for Usyk’s extension to expire he spoke to Sky Sports and revealed he wants to stay active, putting his name closer with every win.

“Obviously I’m very close now to fighting for the championship of the world but I just don’t want to wait around.

“That’s another way of getting closer to the championship of the world – beating whoever’s in front of me.

“Usyk is the one because he’s got all the belts but there are so many other big fights out there. There’s [Agit] Kabayel. I haven’t fought [Filip] Hrgovic, he’s just had a good win. There are many fights out there that we can have after this one.”

Parker and Dubois were set to face off for the Brit’s then-IBF title in Saudi Arabia, but the fight was pulled after Dubois fell ill.

Parker has reiterated he still wants a fight with the 28-year-old.

“There is unfinished business and if he wants to get it on we definitely can.

“There’s no point avoiding fights.

“Whatever they put in front of me, I’ll take.

“Obviously I’m very close now to fighting for the championship of the world but I just don’t want to wait around.”
