In a thrilling main event at Planet Ice in Altrincham, Jack Rafferty held on to his British and Commonwealth super lightweight titles, but was held to a majority draw by Mark Chamberlain.

Rafferty defended his belts his belts across twelve rounds against Chamberlain.

Rafferty (26-0-1, KO17) had his last assignment in Manchester in April, defending his Commonwealth belt by halting Cory O’Regan in five rounds, while Chamberlain (17-1-1, KO12) was upset by Josh Padley last year, dropped in the eighth on the way to a ten-round points loss.

He returned in April, winning all eight rounds against Miguel Angel Scaringi.

A long left hand from Chamberlain saw him shade the opening round, and he continued his good start by working well to head and body in the second, as well as getting the better of the exchanges in the third.

Rafferty grew into the contest though, causing a cut on Chamberlains right eye with some good pressure fighting, and he then started to get his own successes in the exchanges.

Chamberlain’s damage to both eyes was worsening by halfway, but he responded admirably, keeping busy and boxing well in the face of heavy pressure from the champion.

As the contest reached its conclusion, it looked like Chamberlain had done enough to get his hand raised, but one score of 115-114 in his favour wasn’t enough, as two scores of 114-114 ensured the bout ended in a stalemate.

Zak Miller vs Lyon Woodstock

At the head of the undercard, Zak Miller (17-1, KO3) defended his Commonwealth featherweight title, and former British and Commonwealth title challenger Lyon Woodstock (16-5, KO7) gave him a good run for his money before Miller took a unanimous decision.

Woodstock was cut several times during the contest, and Miller ran out the winner by two scores of 117-112, and a third at 117-111.
