The Montreal Casino in Montreal, Quebec, Canada hosts world championship boxing on Thursday evening, and Mikaela Mayer goes for the vacant WBC and WBO super welterweight titles in the main event, as she takes on Mary Spencer for the unified belts.

Eye of the Tiger Promote Mayer vs Spencer, and the card can be streamed via Top Rank Classics on YouTube.

Mayer (21-2, KO5) is a former unified super featherweight champion, and a WBO title-holder at welterweight, with the Colorado Springs native losing her 128 pound titles to Alycia Baumgardner in a controversial split decision loss in 2022, and she also dropped a razor-thin split decision to Natasha Jonas for the IBF welterweight title in January 2024.

Mayer would be crowned a two-weight world champion in September last year, as she was on the right side of a majority decision against WBO champion Sandy Ryan at Madison Square Garden, New York, and the pair then fought a rematch in March, where Mayer emerged a clear points winner in Las Vegas.

Home hope Spencer (10-2, KO6) stands in the way of Mayer ruling at a third weight, and her two defeats have come in world class.

Spencer lost by decision to Femke Hermans for the vacant IBO title in late 2022, and a rematch saw Hermans add the vacant IBF title by taking a majority nod in October 2023.

The 40-year-old has fought three times since in limited company, the last a wide points win against Ogleidis Suarez in April.

Prediction: Mayer knows her way around this level, and she can box her way to a clear points win to take the belts on offer.

Arthur Biyarslanov vs Sergey Lipinets

NABF super lightweight champion Arthur Biyarslanov (19-0, KO16) defends his title for a fourth time, as he meets former IBF world champion Sergey Lipinets (18-4-1, KO13) over a scheduled ten rounds.

2025 has seen two early wins for Biyarslanov, stopping Mohamed Mimoune in two rounds in February, before halting Antonio Collado in three in June, while Lipinets is coming off a ninth-round stoppage loss to Adam Azim for the vacant IBO belt in February.

Prediction: Biyarslanov is on the up, and carries power, so I fancy him to take the win here via stoppage.

Remaining undercard

Big-punching super middleweight prospect Wilkens Mathieu (14-0, KO10) moves up to ten-round level for the first time, and he should be able to take his first titles too, where he may likely need the scorecards to take the WBC Continental and NABF titles against Shakeel Phinn (27-3-2, KO17).

In the remaining ten-rounders on the bill, WBC Continental Americas light heavyweight champion Mehmet Unal (13-0, KO11) can defend his title on points against Latvia’s Ralfs Vilcans (18-2, KO7), who took Anthony Yarde the distance last October, and Christopher Guerrero (15-0, KO9) should defend his WBC Continental Americas welterweight strap inside the distance against Williams Andres Herrera (17-4, KO7).

The sole eight-rounder should see Thomas Chabot (11-0, KO8) take victory on points against Logan Clouthier (6-0, KO4) at super featherweight, and in the only four-rounder, Erik Israyelyan (2-0, KO2) can be an early winner against Mario Esparza (2-1, KO0) also at super featherweight.
