In sports, the general public typically sees the end result of an athlete’s preparation as they compete on the field, court, mat or ring. More often than not, what isn’t seen are the obstacles that many athletes face, situational or physical.
Bobby “The Kid Bam” Hornsby was born in the inner city to a father who was physically and mentally abusive to his mother. At the age of only two years old his dad was incarcerated for murder, but through the love and guidance of a determined mother and the discovery of a new passion, a young Hornsby eventually turned to boxing.
The discipline of the ring taught invaluable lessons that continue to drive him today and ones that he passes along to his younger brothers. This is his story about defying the odds, fighting his way to numerous amateur championships, reaching the professional ranks with and undefeated 8-0 record and hope of one day being a world champion.
