Former boxing champion Amir Khan will be hosting a fundraising dinner for Islamic Relief for the Philippines Typhoon Haiyan Appeal, which caused huge devastation earlier this month.  The fundraiser will be taking place this Sunday, December 1st, at 6 pm at the  Hilton Hotel, Hall Ings, Bradford.

Over 500 tickets sold for the event which includes a three course dinner and entertainment. There will also be a charity auction for memorabilia from footballing greats including Ronaldo and Messi and of course, boxing memorabilia from Amir Khan himself.

Amir explained:

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from the local community in Bradford already and we’re hoping to raise thousands for the Typhoon Haiyan Appeal this Sunday.

“The typhoon caused mass destruction across the Philippines and I’m honored to be working with Islamic Relief to organist this dinner for such a good cause.”

This is nice to see from Khan. Obviously he got to spend a lot of time in the Philippines while he was training with Manny Pacquiao’s team, and working with Freddie Roach. Khan parted with Roach and there was a bit of a falling out there, but he’s still going to try to raise some funds for the people of the devastated country, so that’s great.
