BKB has announced it is set to launch in Mexico on September 19.

The event will mark BKB’s first show in Mexico, with Julian Fernandez set to defend his title in Tijuana.

Many former boxers have viewed bare-knuckle boxing as an exciting new venture, swapping the squared circle for the triangle.

Former world champions and contenders have increasingly made the move into BKB in recent years.

Perhaps the most notable is former two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi, who has fought twice under the promotion.

Malignaggi headlined the Manchester Arena, where he took on super welterweight champion Rolando Dy, who stopped him in the second round.

As the promotion continues to expand into new territories, its first event in Mexico was announced today through a landmark partnership with Zanfer Promotions, Latin America’s premier boxing promoter.

BKB Chief Executive Officer David Tetreault spoke about the partnership:

“Mexico is one of the most important boxing markets in the world, and there is no better partner to enter it with than Zanfer Promotions.

“Their history speaks for itself. Together we are bringing bare-knuckle boxing to a country that lives and breathes this sport.

“Launching with a world title on the line, with Julian Fernandez defending his championship in front of Mexican fans, is exactly the statement we want to make as we plant our flag in Mexico and across Latin America.”

The promotion has already established strong audiences and engagement in the United States and the United Kingdom as it looks to expand its footprint across the globe into new regions.

Fernando Beltran, Founder and President of Zanfer Promotions, said:

“Bringing BKB to Mexico is a natural fit.

“Mexican fans demand the very best in combat sports, and BKB delivers a raw, world-class product unlike anything else on the market.

“To partner on a championship night of this calibre, and to do it in Tijuana on September 19, makes it all the more special for our fans.

“This is only the beginning of what we will build together.”

BKB’s growing global roster continues to add new talent. The roster currently includes fighters such as Amado Vargas, Fernando Vargas, Victor Ortiz, Lee Selby and more.
