Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has the potential to break viewing records, with the fight heading to a a huge streaming service.

Canelo will defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who is bankrolling the event confirmed that the bout will be streamed live on Netflix.

The streaming giant showed live boxing for the first time in November, with the controversial bout between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson drawing in over 108 million viewers and reaching 60 million households.

“On September 13, Canelo and Crawford, two legends of the boxing will finally compete against each other in the fight of the century,” Alalshikh said.

“Alongside Dana White and Sela, we will deliver something truly incredible in Las Vegas for fans around the world to enjoy through Netflix.”

Alalshikh has enlisted UFC president Dana White to handle the promotion for the fight, after the pair joined forces in March creating a new boxing league under the TKO banner.

When Alvarez defeated William Scull to reclaim the undisputed championship on May 3, Alalshikh announced that the Mexican great would face Crawford on September 12 at Allegiant Stadium – home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Alalshikh announced White as the promoter of the fight, but on May 18 he said that SELA – the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia – would handle the promotional duties and it would now be staged a day later on September 13.

“We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo v Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season,” the 43-year-old posted on X.

“The broadcaster we have not decided yet but the date will be Saturday 13th September.

“More details soon.”

White denied suggestions of a fallout between the pair and after UFC 316 on Saturday, the 55-year-old insisted that he would be promoting the bout, a notion which was confirmed by Alalshikh on Sunday.

“My brother Dana will promote this fight,” he posted on X.

“It is the fight of Riyadh Season, and we have a deal with TKO to promote it and it will the biggest fight in boxing, and tomorrow I think I will tell the details and the platform and the place for this fight, me and and Dana.”

A venue is yet to be announced for the showdown which will see Crawford move up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez on his usual Mexican Independence Day date.

Allegiant Stadium is currently due to stage a college football game between the UNLV Rebels and Idaho State on September 13.

The bout could head to the T-Mobile Arena where Alvarez has fought 10 times previously and the site of Crawford’s career-defining victory over Errol Spence Jr in July 2023.

Alalshikh announced a three-city press tour to promote the bout, starting in Riyadh on June 20, followed by a second press conference in New York on June 22 and concluding on June 27 in Las Vegas.
